Any Halifax customers?

Thank you all for the advice and information. Sorry I have not responded sooner: family trouble and medical appointments intervened.
I have decided to stay with TSB for the time being. I understand that some have more than one account, but that is not for us, we are in our 70's and on a fixed income. I have a spreadsheet with control over our financial affairs because we have to know exactly where we stand from one week to the next. We both use the internet and mobiles to use the bank, although the TSB branch is a friendly place when we have visited. I have researched all other banks with local branches and cannot see another with the same deal of current account with a Monthly Saver. First Direct and Metro we do not consider at all. Whilst we use internet and mobile banking, we do occasionally have to visit a branch.
I often find that the local Halifax branch has the closest indoor ATM to my Town parking space, and I have their Clarity card, so I have been in that branch a few times. I have never seen it crowded and never seen queues of more than 5 or 6 people. TBH there are rarely queues in any of the many banks in Louth.
Once again, many thanks for the input.
Halifax have a local branch.
It's the closest to your usual town parking space.
When it's raining you can stand undercover to use the ATM.
The local branch is never busy.
When there are people in there it's 5 or 6 max.
Halifax have a monthly saver, paying just the same rate as TSB.
You already have a Halifax log in so the new account would be swiftly manageable online.
Yet you've decided not to move to them?0 -
*The Halifax Monthly Saver allows no withdrawals.
*The TSB MS allows withdrawals and we use it to move money around accounts, which we find very useful.
*After 12 months, TSB restarts the MS at the same interest.
*There is no mention on the Halifax site whether that also applies to their MS.
*The Halifax MS is automatically transferred to an Easy Saver at 0.20%.
*The TSB has always reminded us online when it is time to restart the MS, whereupon we make an appointment at the local friendly TSB branch to set this back up.
*If we ignore the restart, it would revert to a similar low interest account.
*I can park free opposite the TSB on most days, or very close in a paid parking bay.
*If it's raining, I can still use the indoor Halifax ATM, or one of 3 others within the same marketplace.
Thank you for your input. Any questions?I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

*The Halifax MS is automatically transferred to an Easy Saver at 0.20%. - THE MONEY YOU SAVE IS TRANSFERRED ALLOWING THE REGULAR SAVER TO CONTINUE
*The TSB has always reminded us online when it is time to restart the MS, whereupon we make an appointment at the local friendly TSB branch to set this back up. - THE HALIFAX REMIND YOU EITHER BY POST OR E-MAIL IF YOU'RE REGISTERED PAPERLESS
*If we ignore the restart, it would revert to a similar low interest account.AS LONG AS YOU DON'T CLOSE THE EVERYDAY SAVER THE A/C CONTINUES WITHOUT THE HASSLE OF REOPEING A NEW ONE AND EVEN THEN YOU CAN OPEN ONLINE, WE ALL KNOW HOW "RELIABLE" TSB ONLINE BANKING IS
*I can park free opposite the TSB on most days, or very close in a paid parking bay.YOU CAN STILL PARK FREE OPPOSITE THE TSB AND BANK ELSEWHERE

Your original thread was about switching from the TSB and you're opening line was "Had enough of the TSB"

Thank you for your input. Any questions?
1. Why did you make your OP in the first place?
2. Why did I bother giving you my thoughts on Halifax in my first reply...based on the only information I had, neatly summarised by the previous poster as "had enough of TSB"?
3. Why did I bother countering all your subsequent points with facts to try and help you?
4. Why did you add in snippets of information later, like you withdraw from the 2% account to move the cash elsewhere so need penalty free withdrawals?
5. But, fundamentally, why the attitude?0 -

The BOS Monthly Saver allows withdrawals without closure but is otherwise identical to the Halifax version. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Thank you Heng Leng.
YorksBoy, I don't have an attitude. I simply replied to each of your points. If you have taken offence, I never meant to give it. I appreciate your help, now please vacate your soapbox, you have the attitude IMO.
Done with this thread now, not returning. Thank you everyone who advised.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

Hello
I have a Reward Account which I use to pay bills. There's a branch near to me but if I have to deposit any cheques, I use a Post Office.
I like that, they send a text if don't have enough to pay a future standing order/direct debit.Sealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0 -
Have had a Halifax current account since it was a student account as my sole account. Joint accounts are with other banks. Had no problems with them, and they let me bring my dog into the branch.0
