Thank you all for your thoughts. The mortgage will indeed run out eventually (early Jan, it's good for 6 months) and we got one with a fee, so would rather not lose it.
Best case they come back from holiday and find something in a week or two.
We'll keep looking as well, going to schedule a few things to see on Saturday (We live in London and buying in home counties so it's a bit of a trip for us).0 -
Got a call from the EA to say the sellers are taking the house off the market. So I'm just about to line up some viewings for Saturday...
Any idea on how much our solicitor will charge for the work they had done on this purchase so far? Their quote was 1k for the conveyancing (plus all the fees).0 -
A shame.
If you were just about ready to exchange, then I fear you'll pay most of itEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Give them a date, then move on, and be done with their faffing about. They are using your lack of experience (I mean that nicely) to mess you around at their convenience.
An ultimatum doesn't really help the OP if they haven't got an alternative place to buy.
They could/should though let the EA know they are now looking elsewhere and sellers moving into rented would forestall the problem of OP finding another house to buy.
Plus, sellers may be more amenable to pressure this way than being strongarmed where they might just push back even if it's against their interests.0 -

Boo!
Another question... our solicitor had already withdrawn our LISAs. What happens now, is it possible to put the money back into the accounts?0
