Transferred from EE to Scottish power - Awful service and huge bill

We were transferred from EE to Scottish Power in November last year. We received no welcome pack, no e-mails and no bills. Some quick research online would suggest Scottish power bit off way more than they could chew and it has caused lots of problems for people.
The main issue is a large bill which I have had to access online, I will put it down to experience if the bill is correct but I'm having some difficulty wrapping my head around it, I can post the bill if necessary.
We pay a monthly direct debit of 59.00 for gas/electric combined, which we started paying in November. The starting reading in November is based on an estimate and we got an actual reading towards the end of June.
From November until June they are estimating approximately 250 Units of Gas per month with higher estimates for winter. For April, May and June itself they are estimating approx 200 Units per month. This is equating to larger than normal bills which don't appear to come monthly or quarterly, just completely random. These bills have been coming in way higher than the 59.00 we are paying but we had no idea until now.
Our actual reading in June was 22760 and today it is currently 22881, so in the last two months we have used only 121 Units, approximately 60 per month. Yet according to Scottish power estimate we were using 200 units the month prior to this? I appreciate we will use less gas in Summer however this just doesn't appear right to me. To complicate matters further the bill for May to June has come in £200, so in the month of summer when our heating is switched off completely we have a bigger bill than in some months in Winter!!
Something just doesn't add up, the obvious problem is I don't have an actual meter reading for November so I have no way of checking what we have actually used (lesson learnt).
This is not a case our our true reading being way higher than the estimate and causing a large bill. We have the opposite, our bill has been way lower since our true reading went in in June. It appears the entire bill has been based on an estimate between November and June and I have no idea how to check the accuracy of this.
We have tried contacting Scottish power and spoke to a very unhelpful lady who had no confidence in herself, could provide no answers and just blindly kept stating it was correct. We owe them about £600.
Can anyone provide any help here? Is there an authority I can send the bill into who can possibly explain it or help me understand it?
Please save the patronising and condescending replies, I'm here for advice not judgement thanks

Although you've only got a Estimated reading for SP in November what does your final reading for EE say ? When you switched did SP ask you for a reading - did you send this by email ?
£59 for gas/elec is low as I'm sure you realise.
Between November and June did you ever read your meters and give readings to SP ?
What are your readings of 22760 and 22821 - are they gas or electric. Don't forget that if this is gas you need to multiply by 11.2 to get kwh.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
We were never asked for a reading in November, I have no idea what the reading was when we left EE. I should be able to find out hopefully.
I appreciate £59 is low, however we live in a small terraced two bed and have paid this amount for years, it would generally balance out ok. Our final bill for EE was less than £100. So since joining Scottish power our bill has rocketed up. We were told it was on the same tariff.
Never gave meter readings until June unfortunately.
The electric bill has only just appeared on the online account today. Their is a huge thread on the Scottish power forums regarding incorrect bills after the switch from EE.
Its just highly unusual that since our actual readings in June we have been using what I would consider our normal amount but apparently prior to this we were using way more.0 -
Have you had a closing bill from the EE account ? If you have it is a simple case of taking that closing reading from there and subtracting it from the current read and working out the difference.
You need to submit regular monthly reads to your suppliers to ensure your account is kept up to date. Stop allowing the supplier to estimate. And if bills are on line download them and keep them stored safely.0 -
Unfortunately without accurate meter readings you are going to struggle to prove whether you did or didn't use that much energy.0
