I don't think I ever had any PPI...

Hi all. I am fairly sure I've never knowingly had PPI on any product; my wife is slightly less certain but says she may well have forgotten. I reckon there's a few percent chance that one of us actually did have some PPI at some point...
We're both very time poor! Is there a half-decent claims management company to whom I could simply give our details and let them search for any PPI that either of us might unwittingly have had? I'd happily pay 25% of the value for such a service.
Or do all CMCs start from you giving them details of who you think you had PPI with? In which case, I should simply sit down for an hour and submit requests myself to every financial institution we can remember ever having had dealings with and see if they come back to us?
Thanks
Jamie

Also, your lending data is not in the public domain.
Some CMCs send out blank requests for banks to check if you had PPI. However, you dont have time for that as the deadline is too short.Or do all CMCs start from you giving them details of who you think you had PPI with? Correct. That is what you should do.0 -
Thanks - I will get on it tonight! I should do this via FCA.org.uk, I think?0

I know the banks really ripped people off with PPI but IMO its time this ambulance chasing came to an end, its costing all of us.
Only a week and a bit to go.0 -
I was about to post a letter last night from a CMC that a family member just used.
Then I decided to spend an hour last night instead, submitting about 20 complaints by following these links from the FCA website.
https://www.fca.org.uk/ppi/how-to-check
https://www.fca.org.uk/ppi/how-to-check/search-for-provider
Don't know if I ever had PPI, of if I will get anything, but doing it myself was very easy.
I just looked down the list of providers on the FCA site that I remember having a card/loan etc with and filled out the simple form in each case.
Don't delay - just do it !!!0 -

Well, I certainly never agreed to have such insurance added to any financial product I've ever taken out. So if it does turn out that I unwittingly had some, it was put in place fraudulently.
Getting it back, if it turns out to exist, doesn't really feel like 'ambulance chasing' to me.0 -
I hate to break it to you but PPI isn’t added on fraudulently. You not remembering taking it does not make it fraud.helpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
Whenever asked about PPI I invariably declined it. I'm not the kind of person who 'forgets' that sort of thing. So yes, if it does turn out to have been added to a product I've bought, then it was done so either surreptitiously or against my direct instructions, and the cost was hidden. That sounds fraudulent to me.
Note that I am 99% sure I've never had it! If it turns out I have then I will be very surprised.0 -
The cost can't be hidden.
You would have seen it on every statement and the paperwork.
Therefore if you had PPI, that would mean you didn't read anything you signed or have forgotten it.0 -
Ah - right. I hadn't appreciated that it would be quite so blatant. That makes the 'ambulance chasing' comment more understandable.
I'm now 100% sure I've never had PPI! Thanks for the help.0 -
As above. CPI is clearly detailed on your monthly statements, LPPI is (usually) added as a one-off lump sum on your CCA and opening statement and OPI was detailed monthly, usually on the same date.
MPPI was charged as a separate direct debit. So not hidden at all, unless you don’t read what you’re signing.helpful tips
