House is in dads name.

My dad passed away in 2016 and because my mum had unspecified dementia I filled in the forms for the Letter of Administartion so I could transfer all my dads money to my mums account.
We asked her who owned the house and she told us it was in both their names, at the time we could not find the deeds and the land registry could do nothing to help.
My mums dementia has got worse so we are arranging for her to go into a care home.
My husband after searching the house again came across the deeds as well as the second mortgage documents for home improvements in the 1980’s which is in both their names, in the attic in an old tin.
But the title on the deeds is just my dads, we need to get the house transferred into my mums name but are not sure how to do it, do we need to involve a solicitor.
Thanks.

You will have to register the property at the Land Registry.

If it's very straightforward, you can do this yourself but we didn't want to risk making a mistake that could cause difficulties in the future so we got our solicitor to do it.

The people at the Land Registry are usually very helpful.
