Somebody said once your over the pension age you can’t get he mobility car, you have to qualify before then you can keep it all through your pension age.
Is this true?

If you are over State Pension Age and applying for a disability benefit for the first time you have to go for Attendance Allowance
This does not have a mobility component. Purely for care0 -

So nobody over 65 can get the car unless you qualify for attendance allowance?Nothing has been fixed since 2008, it was just pushed into the future0 -
Did you read the link above? Attendance allowance doesn't have the mobility part, so you can't have a mobility car if you claim this.So nobody over 65 can get the car unless you qualify for attendance allowance?
If you claim PIP Enhanced mobility or DLA high rate mobility then you can get the mobility car, regardless of your age. If you already claim either DLA or PIP and you don't have those awards before you reach pension age then you won't be able to claim them after.0 -
Reference to over 65 is misleading. The cut off is State Pension age which currently is over 65 but under 66.
Applications for PIP, which could include a mobility component and therefore give access to a Motability vehicle, can be accepted from anyone below State Pension age. Note this does not mean that the award has to have been made before State Pension age, only that the application must be made before State Pension age.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Thanks calcotti
I have amended my post, accordingly. I shouldn't just rely on my memory (been a while since I was doing AA forms!)0 -

To be fair the information contained in the link you provided needs updating too!Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
Is it ever possible for somebody over state pension age with a new claim to qualify for a mobility car?Nothing has been fixed since 2008, it was just pushed into the future0

Yes, if they are transferring from DLA. The DLA to PIP transfer for those that were under 65 on 8th April 2013 is still on going. If a person is awarded Enhanced mobility once they've transferred then they can exchange their mobility allowance for a car.Is it ever possible for somebody over state pension age with a new claim to qualify for a mobility car?0 -
Is it ever possible for somebody over state pension age with a new claim to qualify for a mobility car?
Also yes if it is a new claim for the War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement or the Armed Forces' Independence Payment, neither of which have a maximum age to make a new claim.
