How do I claim my free £80 private plate transfer? Long story.

Long story short. My car got stolen 2 months ago and now everything is all sorted. My car that got stolen has a private reg plate and now I want to buy a new car and I want to transfer it to my new car. However how do I claim the free £80 transfer fee? I remember that I can get it done free because my car got stolen but I'm not sure how it works? My insurance company is quotemehappy and they are pretty useless and slow replying to my emails and calls
Does anyone know how I do this? Sorry if I'm confusing evryone. Basically 2 months ago my insurance said that they will pay for my private plate transfer fee when I get my new car but I'm not 100% if they said that or not.
Appreciate everyone's help

I doubt very much that DVLA will waive the fee. It may be that you pay the fee as per normal and include that in your claim from the insurance company.0

You still have to pay the transfer fee to get the retention certificate.0 -
The car was never found (or written off and scrapped) after the theft claim?
If you didn't get the insurer to put the plate on retention back then, I strongly suspect the plate is now lost.
You pay to take the plate off the car and put it on retention, then you don't pay to transfer it from retention onto another car. So, if you don't have the V750 retention, then the plate was still on the car when ownership transferred to your insurer - and if the car's been scrapped, then the plate died with it and can't be transferred off any more. If you have the V750, you just follow the instructions on it to transfer onto the new car.0 -

So my plate died then? Lol. What exactly do I need to do now because I do not have the v750 form. I don't know what to do0 -
Looks like you have a long window to do the transfer in, so you may still be good...

Why do you think the transfer would be free?0
