Economy Energy Refund ?
Hi, my mother left Economy Energy just before they announced the company was going into administration. She left with a credit balance of £130 but has heard nothing despite escalating her complaint to the Ombudsman.
Final readings were sent by EE to her current supplier so there are no issues there
My question is, has anyone had any refunds from Economy Energy ? What further action can you take if you have no resolve from the Ombudsman ?
Many thanks for your help/advice
Sue

You need to contact Ovo Energy - https://www.ovoenergy.com/economy-energy
They are responsible for refunding credit balances.0 -
Did she have an online account ? If so you can still log in and have a look to see if they've updated her account with a final bill.
I only got my final electricity bill last week, still waiting for the gas.

You have to use up the credit on the new supplier OFGEM appoints.
OFGEM recommends you do not change supplier until the change has been completed with the new supplier.
A reason I make sure I do not run up a credit balance that I cannot afford.0 -

The OFGEM site says wait until all is transferred over to the nominated supplier.
On a recent "Money Box" programme credit balances were discussed and it was said wait until you have used the credit before finding the best supplier.
Please point me in the direction of any reference that says credit has to be repaid.0 -
They said wait, not that you'll not get it refunded.
From EEIf you are a current OVO customer, then the credit will automatically be added to your account within the next four weeks. If you are not currently an OVO customer, then please allow three weeks for this information to be shared with OVO and their systems updated before contacting them for a refund.

https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/publications-and-updates/economy-energy-customers-your-questions-new-supplier-ovo-energyOvo Energy will honour credit balances for both current and past customers of Economy Energy who are owed money.
Ovo Energy will review details of any debt or credit on your account. Wait for them to contact you with relevant instructions. They will also be able to answer any questions you may have on debt or credit on your account. You will see details of any credit balance owed on your final bill from Economy Energy, as well as on your first bill from Ovo Energy.
If you had already left Economy Energy when they went out of business, but were still owed a credit refund, you will need to register a refund claim with Ovo Energy. Wait for your final bill from Economy Energy before you do so. To register a claim, please contact Ovo Energy on 0330 102 7407. Prepayment customers should call Ovo’s prepayment brand, Boost on 0330 102 742.
When calculating your credit balance, Ovo Energy will deduct any unbilled charges for your supply by Economy Energy. These are calculated by Economy Energy’s administrators.
We are aware that for some customers the process for getting owed credit back is taking longer than expected, as Economy Energy’s administrators are still working to create final bills for all customers. This is due to the quality of the data of the failed supplier. Don’t worry. We are engaging regularly with Ovo Energy on this, and they will issue refunds when they have more information from the administrators on your final bill.
