Gas Boiler Free Grant woes

So my uncle had a new boiler In and had to only contribute £240 with the rest covered by the grant. My uncle is in Birmingham I am in Nottingham. Anyway uncle recommended this firm to me so I gave the guy a ring and he asked me to email my universal credit statement to him, which I did and he was satisfied with it, he said to me he will be able to do underfloor heating and change my back boiler to combi boiler and he said the grant should cover all the cost.

So all was looking good, but since we have arranged to do an initial assessment on the house, he has not turned up, this has happened twice, I rang him the second time and he said he will ring me back later on in the day but he didn’t. I rang him the next day and he gave me the number for his survevor and told me to ring him to arrange a visit to my house, so I ring him and he stated I am busy and will ring you back but he doesn’t bother to ring back.

Utter shambles and I have wasted 5 weeks chasing this firm to get the work done.

Should I be worried that they have my universal credit statement considering they are playing silly !!!!!!s?

Has anyone got any links to reputable companies who will change my boiler via the grant?

  • Hi, I have just joined the forum & read your post, I do hope that you are all sorted by now. I have just had a similar experience, I completed a form online with newboilergrant.Co.uk, & spoke with a lady who said we would be eligible for grant, she organised a surveyor to call to our house, which was organised very quickly, he confirmed that grant would go ahead, however he said we would need underfloor insulation as part of the government criteria, a few days later a man turned up to do the work, however he was unable to access floor as it is only 2 courses deep, he contacted his boss Paul, & said Paul would contact us later in the afternoon, I could smell a rat!!. we waited 4 days, giving him benefit of doubt as it was over the weekend . I phoned him at 5.45 in the evening, when I said who I was & asked what was happening, he pretended he could not hear me, it was so obvious, he then disconnected. I have messaged NBG (new boiler grant) twice & had no response from them either. I am also left wondering if they have made a claim on my behalf & not provided the service. Nightmare!!
