You don't know everyones situation.

If you were switching from another account then any monies in that old account would switch to the new one and be in there from day one.

Losing "many days" interest, you're talking pennies to a couple of quid at most.

If you apply for the account online then you get registered for online banking automatically and you have to wait for the customer number etc. Through the post (Only took about a week after account opening for me!) But if you apply in branch then you have to apply for the online bankIng manually! I closed my account with them around 6 months ago and decided to give them another go so luckily my online banking is all the same so I can get all my new account details on there

But my query to the building society was the same I wanted my acc and sort code they said to me down the phone to wait for the card to find out other than that there is no way, unless you get your welcome letter first
