Personal injury claim process

Hi there, Hoping someone can advise please. I am currently nearing the end (hopefully) of a personal injury claim and I am wondering if anyone can advise on the normal time frame from solicitors receiving medical reports (3 in total) to advising on next steps/ submitting to the 3rd party insurers??

I don’t want to be THAT annoying person but they have had the reports since July 27th and I am yet to hear the outcome of their review.

Should I have heard something by now or should I expect to be waiting several weeks/months??? Would solicitors normally give an approx timeframe as mine refuses when asked previously!!!!

Any advice would be much appreciated. :)

  • Months, after a crash in a taxi I waited more than a month for the medical then another month to get the report. It was then another 6 months until they decide to settle.

Receiving any compensation within 6 months of an accident is fast. Most claims are settled 6-12 months depending on complexity.

There is no set time scale, apart from the rule that they have to be sent within 3 years of the accident (unless the solicitor asks the Court for more time).

Could be days / weeks / months.

Jut remember that the solicitor works for you - if you want them sent to the insurers now, then tell them that.
  • We had a car accident in April 2018, our youngest that suffered nothing major and didn't need to see a Dr had his payout in 4 months, my Husband is due to get his in the next 6 weeks (hopefully) and I've got a final medical appointment in 2 weeks time and I'm hoping it will be paid by Christmas.
Never again will I forget to add on legal cover with car insurance.
