Gas meter not working...any ideas?

Options
Hello,
I went to get a gas meter reading this morning to update my supplier, we are with Utility point and have to provide monthly readings. However, the display screen is lit up and says INIT. I've tried pressing the buttons I usually would to get a reading and it's doing nothing other than displaying INIT. Any ideas?

It's a Landis gyr g47, serial number starting with E060 if that's of any help.

You'll probably need to contact your supplier to get it checked - make sure you've got records of previous readings and if you haven't then download them from your online account so you've got your own record of your consumption.

As a meter reader for BG I see thousands of those Landis Gyr G470 smart meters but have never seen INIT displayed. It will mean initialising or initialisation..
It is, or could be , a SMETS2 smart meter so could it be the start of the DCC making the meter capable of smart switching. Its due to happen any time now. Other than that explanation it looks like a call to the supplier.

Or it could be the meter failing to pass initialization and connect to the smart electric meter. Mine does that a bit (As does the elecctric to connect out as it is a bit of a naff coverage round here!). Though it's ages since I looked at them so I can't remember what they said!

Either way as you say it's contact the supplier.
