PIP worries?

I have applied for PIP and the PIP people have rang me up and cancelled 3 times. The excuse used is, the nurses not available on that date or she is on long-term sickness.

A nice gentleman put on my notes for when they send me another date, that I could change it if it was unsuitable, and it wouldn't be used against me.

I rang up this morning with my support worker sat next to me. Then some female jobsworth insisted that I had to keep the date that was written on the letter which was sent to me, even though it clearly stated on my notes that I could change it!

I'm not going to the assessment without the support of my social worker. She asked for some new dates of when she could come with me to my assesment in her diary, the woman on the phone was so moody that I'm worried that she's going to drag her feet and delay getting through to the right people.

I have Aspergers, and this is stress I could do without. Can you please advise me, thank you very much. These people are a joke, should I make a complaint?

    I think I would phone again and hope you get through to someone more helpful, to check if the date of the appointment on the letter has been cancelled and re-arranged for a time when your social worker is available. Is there anyone who could help you make that call?

    Perhaps, see if your Social Worker could write to the Assessment company:
    a) Explaining why you need her support at the assessment;
    b) Setting out what happened with the phone call (get the time and date from your telephone records);
    c) Asking for an assurance that your PIP claim will not be stopped if you don't attend on the date on their letter.

    Keep a copy of this letter, should you need it later.

  • The point I would be querying is was the note actually added to the case, because without it, that might cause difficulties, unless the call is recorded by either party? (Not sure if they record?).
  • If you haven't cancelled an appointment you can cancel one and only one, the fact they have cancelled shouldn't make any difference to that.
