Only one workman of two turned up and wants paying for both!

I booked two workmen to do a job for £100 each per day for three days.
Only one turned up and is doing all the the work, but he wants £200 per day.
The work has started, and if I agree then I will be paying what I was going to pay if both had turned up, and the work will be done, but I need some opinions on this, thanks.

You could try to renegotiate or if the job is done to the standard you expect pay what you agreed to pay. Effectively you seem to have agreed to paying £600 for the job to be done, does it matter to you if one person does it all or the work is shared?0

If the one person does double the work in the same duration, then yes, pay the £200 per day.0

Sounds like one of those maths problems we got at school!
2 workmen will take 3 days to do a job.
Only 1 man turns up.
How long will it take him to do the work?
He might end up with £600 but that should be because he's worked for six days - it's unlikely that he could do the work of two men each day and thus be entitled to double wages.0 -
You were happy with £600 for the job, does it really matter how many people do it?Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

It will still take three days with one person, he won't be working six days.Sounds like one of those maths problems we got at school!

If its a fixed price job, then it is irrelevant how many men or how long it takes. A fixed price is exactly that. If the job takes longer would you expect to pay more?Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

OP this sounds like you've not done your homework properly and trying to get out of paying the guy!
Let me guess you had a job and got some quotes. Someone's come in and said 6 days, two people. and you said yes!
The likelihood is that the guy quoting you probably knew all along it would take him 3 days but he'd charge your for 2 and because you agreed to the price for a complete job it should matter to you as you.
Learn your lesson, pay the man and put it down to a lesson learnt.0
