Proof of PPI Claim Submission

At this late stage, if making a claim, what is the best way to ensure you get proof you sent it? (that would be accepted by the ombudsman)
For example Santander have an online claim submission tool (which is probably more secure than sending personal information in the post) - but I'm not sure it sends a confirmation that anything has been submitted?

I've just spoken to Satander and they admit there is no online alert that the submission has been received, and no email or letter either. They also do not create the case for around 10-14 days, so by then, if they have "lost" the submission, its beyond the deadline and too late.
So be grateful if anyone can suggest a way of claiming that will give proof that a claim was made within the time limit.0 -
And so it gets even more flawed....
The FCA has just told me that a bank should notify that they've received a submission within 5 days...that is unless they are busy, then it takes longer. To get proof you can ask the bank you submitted the claim to to send you a recording of any calls.
So you rely on the bank yoiu are making a claim against to proof you made a claim. Ironic.
Then I asked who funded the FCA. The banks.0 -

Every FCA regulated firm pays levies towards the costs of running the FCA. The firms themselves have no say in the running of the FCA or the actual bill.So you rely on the bank yoiu are making a claim against to proof you made a claim. Ironic.
How else should it be?The FCA has just told me that a bank should notify that they've received a submission within 5 days...that is unless they are busy, then it takes longer. To get proof you can ask the bank you submitted the claim to to send you a recording of any calls.
Aren't you making this more complicated than it needs to be?0 -

That's a good idea. Thanks.0 -
I think you are reading far too much into this. Seriously?
Contrary to the myths spread widely on these forums and by CMC's, firm are far too busy actually dealing with these enquiries to waste their time giving anybody the runaround. It would be nice to have that luxury!
As has been mentioned above. Use the online portal, take a screenshot. Job done! If you submit a complaint then the bank will have five working days to acknowledge it, and a total of eight weeks to respond. If that doesn't happen then you can take to complaint to the FOS
As for the FCA being funded by firms. Remember the FCA are pushing everyone and their dog to claim at the moment!I work in Data Protection and spend my days dealing with CMC's. Only here trying to help!!0 -
Hello THe Flash
I don't know if this will help but I have complained through resolver (yes I know you lot out there are sceptical!) however, resolver does record the dates of the original complaint and I have successfully received replies through this website. Like you I also went direct to the banks/institutions on line portal and yes again had no confirmation from them of my on line complaint so I went one step further and copied all the evidence I had went onto FCA website to get the correct addresses put it in an envelope and the cashier at the post office issued me with a receipt with address and name of recipient for each of my compaints so that I have proof of posting. Hope this helps:)0 -
Sounds like the NHBC in the housing market to me. Anyone who's tried to use them, funded by the house builders, will know what I mean.
It is nothing of the sort. The banks took the FCA to court over PPI. The FCA has forced banks to pay back billions.A claimant should be able to prove independantly that they submitted a claim. e.g. an email, or just a reference number at the end of an online tool. How hard is that?
99 times out of 100 you get a letter within days acknowledging it. In extreme cases, maybe a few days longer.Possibly, but I see a system by which you are reliant on the party you are claiming against to prove that you made a valid claim, flawed.
You are making a complaint about something they did. The complaints process is regulated. If you are that concerned then post your complaint using signed for mail.0
