Flogas M3 Pricing
I have just moved into a flat as a base for a year or so.
The flat runs off a Flogas tank and there isn't much you can do. I received a letter today and it stated I would be charged 263.51p per M3. That sounds insanely expensive to me?
I work all day and only have the heating on for an hour a night if even and a quick 5 minute shower in the morning.
What can I expect my bill to be each month based on the above? I know I will have to wait until the bill comes in but could anyone guess based on the above?
That is really expensive is it not? Its a two bedroom flat.

The clue is in the name, Liquefied Petroleum gas. Think of it as highly condensed gas !
Your bills will depend on many factors such as the size of the property, number of people etc. Average gas consumption is 12000kWh per year, so in your case it's probably nearer 8000kWh.
Your cubic metre of LPG costing £263.51 will deliver about 7080 kWh, so the cost is about 3.72p/kWh. If your usage is low it might last the better part of a year. That's more expensive than mains gas but not insanely so: if you check the rates on comparison sites they are around 3p/kW.
Of course, you have to factor in standing charges for mains gas and tank rental for LPG (and VAT on everything) but that should give you some idea. Any form of gas is far cheaper than Economy 7 (night rate about 9 - 12p/kWh or standard rate 14 - 16p/kWh) or whatever !

Note that the prices in the tables are a bit on the high side.0 -
Thanks Gerry. I was worried I was going to end up with a high bill each month.0

Just think how insanely expensive it would be if LPG were taxed at the same rate as petrol. Your cubic metre would rocket from £263.51 to about £1,309 !0
