Since being on this website, I've done really well, managed to get my outgoings down and start working on reducing my debt, well I knew it was all too good to be true, this week my laptop died, I had someone out last night and they said that due to the age of the laptop and the work that needed done they personally would just buy a new one, so off to PC World I went for a new laptop grrr, at least it was the cheapest £399 but still money that we didn't really want to spend at this time of year.
So, after a few days offline, I'm back again and really needing to cutback our spending for a little while. I really missed everyone and will be catching up with everyone's posts.

How frustrating!
I have a really old laptop too and you have spurred me on to start saving my work somewhere else instead of the laptop as I have all my reminders, finance, spreadsheets etc on mine and would die if it died!
£399 was not a bad deal though! Well done. xxHappy and thankful with never enough time to do everything:rotfl:0 -

I'm glad I didn't have anything of importance on the hard drive, but will definitely be using more of my portable storage, after what happened this week I'd really recommend anyone with an oldish laptop to backup their important files elsewhere too, I'd bought one of those usb storage thingys a while ago and will use that for my more important things.:j Bankrupt 6th October 2009 :j:beer: To a Debt-free Future :beer:0 -

Cheers for that, I'm adament these manufacturers put something in the system to make all computers and laptops break just before christmas
I'm glad we don't have our car anymore, it certainly is a strain on the finances when you don't have a lot of disposable income each month.
Lucy1982, I did get it on the monthly payment as I don't have £400 up front, but like you will be paying it off asap
Glad to be back anyway

I was lucky and had Mum with me so managed to get Office 2007 for £50 rather than £100. But hopefully it's going to be the quickest £449 paid off in history!

I'm after a laptop as the one I'm currently on is on it's last legs (I've only had it 3 years) when I switch it on I get loads of error messsages about no power going to the hard drive, it's really annoying me as it switches itself off and sometimes in the night it switches itself on (I'm convinced it's possessed:D )
The one I like is http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.202-9227.aspx
Looks like I'll have to start saving really hard:oTesco: £1361.19, Vanquis: £2644.73, Very: £563.08, Next: £1636.95, M&S: £1049.92. As of 5th February 2024. Slava Ukraini0 -

I'm really lucky in this respect, my friends hubby is really good with computers and is gonna give me his office cd so I can download the software onto my computer for free, what a guy

hugs for you but imagine what it would have been like before you LBM!! Use it as an example to see how much you've changed! Onwards & upwards with new shiny laptop to you! Mind you I think they have a 2 yr max life - I've never had one thats lasted longer than that...but maybe its because I'm on here so much! Do you have it on your lap BTW? used to & was told thats why they die so I now have mine on a squidgy tray thing!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1!
