I know you're trying to look at what you actually spend rather than where you can start saving money....but flippin 'eck that's a LOT on food!! What on earth are you eating? Truffles and caviar?! You're easily spending at least TWICE whats necessary. Once your court date is over and you can start to look at cutting corners I think this area of spending needs to be your priority as you could be saving another £150 towards your bills.

EDITED....unless they're strapping 15-17 yr old "children" in which case you could maybe saving £50-100 off that £600.
  • At the risk of stating the obvious, presumably you are at the moment paying some money towards debts? Or have you already defaulted on all payments?

Just that that could explain where the “missing” money is going at the moment.

Please - this is not the place for criticising budgets - this is the board for SoAs for BR which are very different to those for other debt issues and DFWB posts. The idea is that the OR wants to know what's being spent now so they can understand the issues - its supposed to be a real-time snapshot - not an 'aspirational' budget.

@madmamma - take no notice of criticisms. It wouldn't be the first poster to misunderstand the SoAs for Bankruptcy.

Follow the guidance you have been given and give a real picture. You need to aim for a zero surplus or small deficit which is probably the real picture (before debt payments) the clothing should be higher for a family of 4. Put the tobacco & hobbies into a heading of 'holiday' (you are allowed a modest holiday) increase the hair cuts and dentist & optician.

Totally agree with the Gardener, posters sometimes do not understand a S.O.A for BR.
Absolutely nothing wrong with your food budget, the whole idea is to put what you spend. my examiner was brilliant and moved figures around so no I.P.A.
Once approved its up to you what you spend your allowances on.
  • £56 for a pouch of baccy.....blimey I glad I gave up years ago when it was £3.50 for 20 fags!
  • Remember everyone. The only sin on this board is to be judgemental.

You have MOT at £10 per month eg £120 per year, an MOT is £50+, that leaves -£70 for car repairs, oil, de-icer, antifreeze. You need at least £30 pm for that.

What car have you got? What age and value?

The point of an SoA is to give a snapshot of current expenditure and commitments - not to 'save' - that comes afterwards.

The OP said that they would have no problems paying their debt if they could save £250 a month on their spending, you think that we should restrict giving any useful advice outside the scope of preparing the SOA, seriously?

How on earth do you manage on £50 a week? !

Well we don't have 3 pets for a start. And I don't classify cleaning products under "food" either.

Also how do you get so much in benefits? That's staggering.
