I have looked online but unable to find anywhere what relates to the exact situation.
If someone receives a backdated amount following a tribunal hearing, can that amount be reduced before it being paid if the person has had an advance payment of UC?
I ask because someone I have helped is in the position.
I would hope the responses will be itll be repaid as already agreed from the other UC payments on the agreed terms.

Are you asking if the underpayment could be used to pay the debt of an advance? Correct me if I'm wrong. Advances on a current UC claim can't be repaid early through underpayments being sent to offset debt. This is because they're currently being repaid in an agreed amount and agreed duration of months.
However, the system will show the advance as debt so if the underpayment is from UC then it's likely to be sent to debt management who will then see the only debt is a current advance and send it back to UC for payment.
If there is other debt such as an advance on a past closed claim that's not being repaid on the current account, or money owed to another benefit then it can be used to repay this debt.
If the tribunal hearing is recent you might also want to know that it can take a very long time for it to be processed and new decision put on the claim.Amount left to pay on house = 64,400.

11krage has summed up the position correctly. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0
