Multiple credit checks

Options
I came back from living overseas 2 years ago and have been in my house which I own for 21 months. When I came back I could not get a mobile phone contract as I had no credit history or job. I got a credit card with a low limit 9 months ago. Online banking now tells me I am 'highly likely to be accepted for a credit increase.

I want to get a monthly mobile SIM contract with BT who I have my broadband with this will be about £12 a month, increase my CC limit and switch my utility supplier. What is the best order to do this in so I don't screw up my credit history? How long should I wait before each application?

There is no need to wait before each application. It won't 'screw up' your credit history. Just apply for each account when it is convenient for you. :)

I thought multiple hard searches could count against you?

Multiple hard searches will reduce your CRA credit score. But since lenders neither use nor see your credit score, it doesn't really matter! :)

  • Multiple credit searches can raise flags to lenders when you apply for credit.

But for what you’re looking to apply for it won’t make much of a difference if any.

It possibly depends what the hard searches are for eg if the hard searches are all lown related then yes could go against you but if they are for utilities, a sim only contract I cant see it being an issue.
