Checks auto turning into Complaints - safe to assume?

Options
I have done a number of 'Checks' either via Resolver or the company own website. I read on MSE that the following banks will automatically turn any valid checks into complaints.. [MBNA, Canada Square (EGG+Citibank), Halifax, Co-op, Barclaycard].

There are 3 other companies that Resolver give the impression in the wording of their email template that the check should be treated as before the deadline... but I am not sure if that is correct. If I don't hear from these should I just make a complaint anyway.

    Ditch resolver and complain direct.

  • Oh, I thought they were recommended? I was following the steps on MSE post about PPI.

I can certainly, do it all again via all the companies own websites but wouldn't that be confusing the matter now with 2 lines of communication ?

Also that wasn't my question anyway. I was asking about if the companies I listed do indeed automatically turn eligible queries into complaints.

Yes, Resolver is indeed recommended by MSE. Could that be because MSE are part owners of Resolver?

With two weeks to go, you need to cutting out any middleman (free or otherwise) as any delays could be fatal to your complaint(s)..

Resolver has a habit of missing emails, sending to the wrong people etc. With two weeks left you want to ensure your complaints are made promptly

  • Completely agree. Ditch Resolver. Go through the FCA website
    https://www.fca.org.uk/ppi/how-to-complain/search-for-provider

It lets you search for the bank, helps identify who is currently sorting out which cards/accounts where they have been taken over, and takes you directly to the right place on the bank's website for you to complain directly.

I started on Resolver 2 weeks ago, and didn't have any response from there at all. Only when I went directly to the bank did things start moving.

Resolver also cuts out parts of account numbers so your lender might not be able to locate you. As above, go direct.

    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)
  • Oh dear but I'm glad I found this out now. I did a number of these on Resolver about 5 days ago so will go back through and do it all again. I believed Resolver was preferred because even when I went through Capital One directly, they found a PPI account within 1 day and their next step was to get me to send my actual complaint through Resolver - which I did... I hope that they get it ?!

Does anyone know the answer to my question please? Thank you
  • Only the recipient can tell you that..
Gosh I can tell I am not used to forums, not sure I like the way people communicate with each other. I have been reading a lot of posts throughout this forum and it seems a lot of people cant help themselves but be needlessly blunt, sarcastic and patronising.

And at lot of the time, not even answering the original questions anyway.

Well , regarding Capital One, Resolver is their only fast method of complaint they accept, except for the postal route. but I guess I can do the postal form as well even if that means doubling up.
  • Thank you for comments on here.
I have now ditched Resolver and done my PPI checks on the relevant companies websites.
I am still not sure if some of these are going to treat my 'check' as a complaint but I suppose if I don't hear back within a week, I will just have to try to then put the complaints in without any details.
