WiFi ones required wires?
I watched one yesterday on YouTube on the channel ChairliediyTe or something like that and he reviewed one which didn’t seem to need wires.
I did skip a bit of it so maybe they installed some during the bit I skipped but as it was powered by a solar panel also I can’t see why it’d need wires.0 -

- Battery powered cameras need recharging the battery (which I doubt anyone would find doable in the long run)
- "Solar-panel" cameras often do not get sufficient charge to run 24/7 or at a high quality (HD quality requires high bandwidth - which requires high power usage). Some cameras work with solar panels, but I have never found a camera that let you record 24/7 or that has good picture quality.
If you don't mind lower quality picture, or cameras that do not constantly record, then yes, you could have a true wireless camera, provided that you have a relatively sunny spot.0 -

Some have batteries. Amazon say the Blink will last two years on the supplied AA batteries. We shall see.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -

So, rather than saying that the battery life is a joke, they give you this unrealistic usage.0 -
Yeah, and that's based on 60-second recordings per day and an impressive 8 seconds of live viewing per day.

It depends on your requirements, 60 seconds a day is about 60 seconds more than I need on the average day. If no one is there it doesn't record, if you turn off detection it doesn't record, when you are in for example. I'm not saying it's magic but if it does what you want it's worth considering.
All the information is on the web so the OP can make his own mind up.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -
I've got several Ring security Cameras,
good HD video quality, motion sensor and lights, two way sound. files saved to internet, choice of colours.
But as others have said check placement positions for power and Strong WiFi signal.
I needed to add a WiFi extender and run external power cable to get coverage for one area.0 -
Arlo.
Been using it for a few years now. Control it from PC, iPads and/or phones, motion sensing, can switch to live view, wireless cameras, cloud storage for free, within limits.
Cameras connect wirelessly to a base unit, which should be connected via Ethernet to your broadband router.
Buy the Panasonic Industrial range of batteries, and you can easily get 14 mths out of a set, if you keep an eye on usage; for instance, disable cameras if you are going to be moving around the area they cover; no point in recording yourself ... live view uses more power than waiting in standby for motion, so try to minimise that.
Don't use the supplied magnetic mounts if putting them outside, go to Amazon for black after-market screw mounts, and black neoprene weather covers to make them less obvious0 -
+1 for the nest system we have 6 cameras which is a tad expensive on the subscription but it's really easy to use and has aways been rock solid reliable, even for outdoor ones and ones in outbuildings. Biggest PITA is routing the power cables to be fair.0
