Hi.
I know this has been asked before but i have forgotten how this works. I had a default with someone who then sold the account to a debt collector. If i wanted the default date amended or tried to get it removed who would i contact? The original lender or the new owner of the default. The default name has changed from the original lenders name to the new debt collector
Thanks

It depends.
Is the account passed onto a DCA to handle colection or have they actually sold the debt on fully?0 -
It has been sold0

So does a sold account mean the new person has all control of the account including the default or does it still lie with the original0

As far as I am aware, if you want the default date amended, and if the default was served by the original creditor, then it is the original creditor that you need to request the change of date.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

I see.
It was done originally by the original creditor and then once sold in 2016 it was changed to the debt collection as the company who put the default on for the same date in 2016.
So despite this i have to go to the original debtor even though they now have nothing to do with the debt anymore?0 -
You'll need to go with both, with the same story/grounds as to why it needs changing (which is...?)0

Thanks for the reply Willing to Learn
Can anyone shed more light on this? I thought it was the original creditor aswell but i am not 100% certain0 -
If both companies applied a default then you need to go to both for the default to be removed.0
