PayPal Credit DD issues...

Hi All,
I recieved an email yesterday saying I had missed a payment and needed to make one and that I would be charged etc....
However, I have had a DD in place for over a year without issue. (Although I have changed the payment amount between the last and current statement)
I have checked my PayPal account and my payment is showing and it is telling me no payment is due however ther is a £12 late charge showing also.
I have called their customer services and they had advised that it is a known issue as the DD was due on the weekend and their system could not cope with it.
I have had a quick search and the only thing that worries me is other peoples expericence of changing their DD amount and having to make a manual payment as the DD would 'skip' a month but as I can see my recent DD on my account so it would seem thats an old issue?
Anyone else had an issue recently with a DD that fell on a weekend?
All the best

If you made a change to the DD, then they needed to notify you of the amount and when it will be taken, or they breach the DD regs. It's not a weekend issue.
Was the correct amount and date clearly stated on your last statement? You generally always need to make a manual payment after setting up or changing a DD.0 -

Just had a look at the statement and it only states the minimum amount and date.
The amount taken was the new payment amount although the website is still stating the old payment amount (I pay a fixed amount)

I don't think the weekend is the problem - most banks will not process any DDs that fall on a weekend until the next business day. As above, double check that you haven't made any changes to your DD lately - it can take up to 10 business days for changes to propagate through and if a payment is due in that time it will not pay out as there is technically no mandate set up to cover it. Otherwise if you are satisfied that everything is set up as it should be, then I would contact your bank and ask them to refund your late payment fees under the DD guarantee - they may want to investigate a bit, but they are obligated to refund you for any loss in a timely fashion. I'd also double check that there isn't any late payment marker reported to your credit files.0

Bit of an update.....
The DD was late in being processed and originally showing a posted date of the 13th to the account when the DD should have been posted on the 10th.
This has now been corrected to show a posted date of the 10th and there was a late fee that has now been reversed off.
PayPal are still maintaining it was a system error due to the weekend but I have had no official email expiaining what the issue was but have been told it was a fairly widespread issue.
Will check my credit report once it updates to ensure no negative data is posted.
