External Tap cover

I am looking for a cover to protect a garden tap on the house wall
Not the "bag" type - why bother
Not the "expanded polystyrene shell" type - tried one - it lasted less than 12 months
Not the simple "foam wrap" type - good for insulation but not much more
I am looking for a hard plastic polypropylene "shed" type - ie) Looks like a miniature "garden shed" screwed to the wall over the tap
similar to http://www.badgerworkshop.com/blog/2016/2/3/tap-box
We had a wooden structure for years that rotted - hence the idea of a plastic one !
Google doesn't help
Any suggestions ?

try

you could see if a floor box for stop cocks would work mounted on a wall.

Thanks - but not at almost £60 - seems overkill - don't need plastic coated steel - just plastic will suffice !
The (£5) stop tap box is an option - though fiddly - worth investigating further....
looking again - they are just 75mm deep - so not enough
I fear that my carpentary skills are needed - keep the plasters ready !0 -
If aesthetics are not important, can you use a Tupperware box, ice cream box or similar and fix it to the wall using some small wooden battens? In other words, pinch the bottom lip of the tub between the bottom batten and the wall to hold the box in place then affix the top batten pinching the top lip. When you don't need to protect it, loosening the screws will release the cover and leave the battens in place.
Don't forget to drain the tap of water before covering it in the winter.0 -

Thanks - a good suggestion - I could fill the container with insulating foam0 -

Just make sure that the foam you use is totally waterproof and can't soak up any water otherwise you could end up with a sodden piece of foam which if it then freezes, might cause even more of a problem as it would be right against the tap.0
