Parking Eye claim that one of the number plate's bolts caused this. (But it still managed somehow to record the first entrance and second exit).

If their ANPR cameras are so fragile and easily confused and people are being terrorised as a result, they are not fit for purpose. Too many 'not our fault' excuses being rattled out by PE whenever their errors are exposed. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Just goes to show, either cover your numberplate FULLY when leaving, or put a blob of something near a letter or two, temporarily, to make it less readable.
Then remove said item (blutack blob, carrier bag, black sock or duct tape or whatever), once round the corner, on street.
You must display your full VRN on street but not on private land, sod em.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I have seen bolts altering an F to an E, P to R, I to L., etc. They are used by the same people who put fake stone cladding on their houses. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

I don't think Jack and Vera owned a car. I might be wrong!
