Claiming from Financial Adviser

We tried to claim from the Halifax. They came back to us and said because it was an Independent Financial Adviser and he has retired we can’t claim anything back, but he told us he would get paid commission from them. We don’t have any paperwork. We are both self employed. What do we do?

Well it depends what your issue is!
A Financial Advisor will obviously have received commission if this was some time ago It's how they used to earn money. Either that, or you will have paid a fee directly to them.Your advisor informed you of this as he or she should have done.


You need to state what your "claim" is for. Is it actually a complaint?

IFAs do not retail Halifax insurance products. They would use products from the whole of market.

We are both self employed.

What does that have to do with anything? The majority of MPPI covers the self employed with no issues.

Your advisor informed you of this as he or she should have done.

Commission disclosure on general insurance was not required.
