Mint credit Card PPI claim

Has anyone else had success claiming PPI back on an old Mint card with no account details? We used Resolver for Mint but they have said they can't find our details as they only keep records for 6 years and we don't have our old account number. Seems a bit of a cop out to me - is there anything else I can try?

It's not a cop out, They're required to destroy their records under data protection.
You were allowed to keep yours.0 -
We had this card years ago and cleared out all old paperwork when we moved house 3 years ago - surely they keep records of account holders names with encrypted data? Other companies have responded with details of old accounts I had around the same time!0

No - they're not obliged to.
Surely you're also responsible for holding onto your own paperwork pertaining to your own personal information, no?0 -
Why would I keep paperwork from closed accounts?.....I wasn't expecting the whole PPI scandal back when I shredded the paperwork! I'd need a whole large room for storage if I kept every piece of paper I'd ever been sent since I turned 18 and got a bank account!!
I am assuming from all your negative replies that this is a lost cause - please don't respond unless you have something useful to add........
I have been successful in PPI claims from other companies with minimum information given about the accounts that are now also closed - it was a simple question to see if anyone had any other ideas for this one.
have a good day all0 -
Send them a Subject Access Request (SAR) under GDPR provsions. If they have any information relevant to your request then they are required by law to provide it to you.
It's not a requirement to retain records longer than 6 years or so though, so it is possible they they no longer have your records - it's not a cop out by any means. It costs money to retain and store data so when there isn't any reason to keep them anymore, it'd be a legitimate way to reduce business costs.0 -
But they're not required to keep the paperwork for longer than 6 years.

Why would I keep paperwork from closed accounts?
Why would they?
As for tracking it down. Did you ever pay money to the card from an account that *is* still active? If so, that bank *might* still have the transaction records and those *might* have the account number as a payment reference.0
