Barclaycard won't provide info

Hi....I am new to the forums and need some help with a PPI claim. I submitted a SAR request to Barclaycard months ago but they just keep giving me the runaround and making excuses. I reported this to the ICO but they are running 9-12 weeks for replying to complaints. Obviously time is short for claiming now and Barclaycard have told me they cannot deal with my complaint until the end of August, which they know quite well, will mean I am out of time to claim. What should I do next?

  • If you have complained already, then you can still pursue this after the deadline as the complaint has already been made. In what way are they giving you the "runaround"
    I work in Data Protection and spend my days dealing with CMC's. Only here trying to help!!

    Why do you think you are out of time? The deadline is irrelevant to you.

  • They first claimed that the account number quoted was wrong, yet it was the exact same number on the letter they sent me. I complained to the ICO as they were not providing the information requested in my SAR - they then claimed they had written to me but I had not responded - fortunately I have proof of posting and delivery. I then sent a return letter with copies of these asking them to provide the information requested in my SAR - they have written back to say my complaint will be dealt with by the end of August.
  • So instead of running in circles just make a PPI complaint with the details you have. No need to wait for their information if you know you had an account there. I made complaints without any even account numbers!

    I am dealing with about 6 different banks, and they have all been great apart from Barclaycard who are giving me the run around (saying they are going to cancel my complaint as-st 3 days before I raised it if I don't change the name on my card before the end of August). So I feel your pain! :D

    If you have only send in a SAR, you have not raised a complaint. You need to complain before the end of the month, otherwise when they do send your info you'll be too late.

    click "make a PPI complaint" and fill in the form the best that you can. DON'T WORRY if you don't have all the info. Just fill it in the best you can. It will count as a complaint and you can provide additional information as and when it becomes available. Grab a screenshot of the final submission screen so you can show you submitted it.
