Shampoo bar

Hello, has anyone made the switch to shampoo bars? I’ve tried one for the first time today and my hair feels...different. Greasy I think! I’d be interested to know how other people have got on?

I haven't used one yet, but I'd be interested in where people keep them, to stop them going soggy. Do they have soap dishes in the shower?

We have wire baskets for bottles at the mo.

I assume they'd have to be quite high up to stay out of the spray??

I use one from LUSH -yellow one . Tried a few others but like that one best . At first I used too much and struggled to rinse it all out . Have had less success with a conditioning bar . Feels greasy.
Only have over bath showers so keep it in soap dish with soap .
They last a long time if you keep it dry between uses .

I bought a storage tin from the same company I got the shampoo from. It's metal though so I think rusting may be a problem, but i'll have to wait and see! All our shower toiletries are stored in a cupboard when not in use. We have a shower over the bath so when I'm using it, it's at the other end to the shower so it doesn't get wet :)

Hi - I used one from Lush a while back but didn't like it. It made my hair very dry. Perhaps you used too much and couldn't rinse?

I have had several from Lush - their different kinds are very different from each other. Some are great on my hair and some didn't suit me well. It is important not to let it sit around damp or it goes mushy and wears down much faster. Mine sits on a soap disk that has prongs for the soap to rest on so it dries as fast as possible.

I use the ones from Primal Suds, they are brilliant. My hair feels squeaky clean. They sell little ladders to set them on so they dry out ok.

I got mine from Friendly Soap, I used it once and haven't gone back it. My hair felt so horrible I couldn't face another day of hair like that! I think I will have a look at the range in Lush and give them a go.

I tried a few of the Lush ones a few years back and all of them left my hair greasy and looking dull. It didn't matter how much or little I used. I have very fine, very straight hair that is prone to greasiness so I wonder if I just have the worst hair type for these products.
  • I use Friendly soap shampoo bars and love them! I keep it in a wire basket with suctions in the shower. They have some tips on their website regards using the bars, it can take a bit of a while for your hair to get used to using them.

I've used a few of the lush ones, some have suited my hair and some haven't, I'm looking at a few other companies to try buying them from too and once I have a few regulars that work for me to alternate I'll switch completely from bottled. I've only tried one solid conditioner from lush and it wasn't right for me, I'll try some others to see if I have more success.

As for keeping them dry, I either wash my hair over the bath so not a problem or even in the shower, my shower is huge so we have a caddy furthest away from the shower head so things stay mostly dry there.
