PPI and old/current catalogue accounts

Options
My pensioner mum has long squandered much of her money on catalogues and ran up thousands of pounds debt. This hasn't been helped by her suffering from at times severe mental health issues.

Is there any way she can claim back PPI from some of these firms? Paperwork would be a problem as she absolutely does not like me "interfering" if even for her benefit, so I don't get much access. Is there a private company that could do it for a fee if I just named some of the companies involved?

I reckon my mum has had four or five different catalogue accounts over the last ten to fiftteeen years and had thousands of debt to them. She also had a Style store card from the late 90s it took her ages to pay off. As she is is quite vulnerable, I wouldn't be surprised if she had been mis-sold across a range of products.

Is there anything I can do?

No private company can anything other than buy you a stamp and take your money. If you know the companies, you can post the forms yourself.

She needs to send her mis selling complaint to whoever sold her the policies.

Did she pay off the thousands of pound in debt that she run up?
And if she receives PPI, would she be making a payment for the thousands of debt that was not paid?
I cannot wait for the day when PPI is no more. It's ridiculous that people are failing to accept responsibility for their actions.

Actually, yes she did. The Style card was fully paid off despite her being on benefits and in and out of hospital.

She also pays the catalogues their trumped up costs in full every week/month to the detriment of her general disposable income.

You can t complain about ppi on her behalf unless you have a financial poa. What you can do is to go the debt free wannabe board for advice on these debts and whether anything can be done about them. They will need much more info about them though, such as how much she owes and to who.
