Flight changes

Just feel like I paid more for a flight to leave earlier and they've simply taken the extra money and put me on the cheaper later flight. win win for them me - £340Holidaymaker2019 wrote: »The young lady called skyplanner, that's my typo! The flight was still showing until today. I screen shot it when I was talking to her. Weird thing is, the flight at 3pm they have put us on is fully booked, we couldn't sit together despite paying for extra legroom for my tall husband?! So why that flight is showing as bookable is beyond me. We are going call again tonight.
I've no idea what 'skyplanner' is.
Why would TUI need to call an 'external system'?
When did you book?
Did you book direct with TUI or via a 3rd party?
Have you booked a package?
Have you checked on the TUI website if the earlier flight - just flight, not package is showing?
The 3pm flight may be showing as 'fully booked' but you are apparently booked on it.
It may show as 'fully booked'' i.e. unavailable to other people.
You will need to address the issue of the ELR seats you have booked and presumably paid for when you speak to the people you have booked with.0 -
Too much information missing and a confusing account from the Op to really establish what has happened and what can be done.0

If they have 2 flights and day and they have to consolidate they choose which ones fits with their operations the best. It may be the earlier one or it may be the later one. They wouldn't ask the people that were on the "more expensive" flight to pay more, so they don't refund if it goes the other way.
If having a flight time change is important then don't book with the charter airlines/tour operators that have terms that aren't acceptable to you. You know what they are before you book. Some airlines/tour operators are much better than others, the tour operators and their charter airlines being about the worst.
Establishing the difference would be nigh on impossible because prices are constantly changing, even on the same day. Just because a package is more expensive on one flight at one point in time it doesn't mean it will be that way all the time.
That info would be available on their database and easily accessed with s request to IT.
Are you suggesting if you bought Nescafe coffee and Heinz Beans from Asda. Upon delivery you discover "due to operational reasons" they substituted them for Smart Price products, you wouldn't want the difference refunded or the order cancelled.?0 -

If Asda had in their terms saying that goods may be substituted for other brands, but as long as you got the type of goods ordered then you have to accept them with no monetary difference or ability to cancel the order, no I wouldn't want the difference or to cancel the order. I've entered into a contract willingly and knowingly that they could do that. If you can't or don't accept them doing it then don't shop there.
The same applies to airlines and tour operators. If they have a 12 hour flight time change clause in their contracts, with no monies refunded and no right to cancellation then either accept that or don't buy from them.0 -
Much confusion with the different flights being described as more expensive or cheaper due to what time they depart.
The difference in cost is more likely due to availability of booking classes, the earlier flight being more popular and therefore lower/cheaper booking classes already sold when the OP booked.
I expect if you could book on the later flight now it would probably be more expensive.
If the morning flight is still operating then you could ask to be rebooked onto it. You might get offloaded on the day or it gets changed again though, if it's not then not a lot you can do.0 -
I suspect this will be related to the 737-max groundings. TUI have a load of aircraft that they cannot use so have leased some aircraft for the summer season but have reduced some schedules and also scrapped some routes....as have other max airlines -Norwegian, Thomas Cook.
If they originally had planned to operate 2 flights on the same day, it makes sense to cancel one, which one would depend on a number of factors including slot availability0 -
Hi all,
So, just to be more clear:
We booked an all inclusive holiday package with Tui with a choice of fights, we selected the earlier flight for which we paid a premium price, understandably as you get a longer first day.
We received the confirmation stating the correct flight times.
Two days later we logged in to input advanced passenger info and the flight appeared to have changed to 3pm without us being contacted,
We called, and the young lady had conflicting information on two systems and promised to call back, she did not.
We got in touch with Tui who said that the flight had been changed to 3pm, but we had to call a separate team on a different number to resolve the issue.
Then an email arrived to confirm the amendment as they called it.
My husband called the other helpline on 3 separate occasions, on hold for 45 minutes, 50 minutes and 55 minutes before being cut off each time without speaking to anyone.
I eventually got through to a helpful young lady today who advised that the early flight had been cancelled and she was sorry we were not informed, that it had been cancelled shortly after our booking. Just bad luck perhaps?
She kindly offered an alternative flight on a different day, that has been confirmed. I also received a bit of a refund.
Thank you to those with positive replies, very kind of you. I approached this forum as I understood it to be a place for advice and to share information, which I hope my outcome may be of use to others.
As for the negative, I'll ignore that thanks. If you can't say something nice, say nothing at all.0 -
By "negative", do you actually mean "all those who didn't post things I wanted to read"?0
-
I'm confused.
I've no idea if my posts have been deemed positive or negative.
I just asked a shed-load of questions as the situation as originally explained by the OP was unclear.0 -

Exactly that. Half the story, half the information. I think people just asked for clarity on several points.0
