I'd like to learn more about the stock market ,
Listen to business podcasts, watch business related TV programmes; read the FT, Investors Chronicle, Economist , Sunday Times; Read Company Accounts; attend shareholder AGM's ; listen to business people speak. Watch Dragons Den, beneath the entertainment the messages are spot on.0 -

I thought AJ Bell's DIY Investor was a very average book but it was a free copy that I sold for around £10 on eBay.0

It's certainly not the greatest and most incisive guide to the financial world, but as I mentioned in my earlier post, it depends what OP is really looking for when they want to find out about the stock market but "don't want anything too technical though". So, a 'very average book' might fit the bill. After all, some of the authors mentioned such as Hale and Kroijer etc will say that a very average portfolio, based simply on the contents of a stock index, is fine. So a very average book will do the job too.
The old edition is about £7 on ebay but generally the newer one would be more suitable given markets and tax rules change. It's about £12 on 'buy it now' via ebay or on Kindle. As I said on a previous thread, I'd happily let someone else have my copy of the old edition but haven't seen it since I moved house...0 -
I am suprised nobody has mentioned Terry Smith's classic Accounting For Growth which cost me around £4 and now seems to be selling for £20+ on eBay. Time to cash in on Sir Terry?0

half way through The Simple Path to Wealth by JL Collins.
strong tilt to the passive side but does gives some very good primers on the markets overall to put passive into context.0
