high rate mobility PIP and fluctuating mental health condition?

If you have a serious MH condition and been awarded high rate mobility allowance does the condition need to be ongoing and not fluctuating like when condition is bad and needs support at all times to access the community when going out but when condition is good can go backpacking alone abroad for 4 weeks at a time. Can you get high rate pip for a well documented serious mental health condition but it being a fluctuating one had good/bad periods of serious unwellness then periods of wellness.

Depends on the level of the fluctuation and whether there are more good than bad days in the relevant period.

However I would suggest that 4 weeks solo backpacking could well come under the condition has improved enough to inform the DWP criteria.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • I wanted to know. I don't think it could be a possibility for me to go abroad on my own as the CLDT wouldn't let me. I'm on a CTO. I was hoping to run away. I want to go to India and bath in the river Ganges and cleanse my soul..

Off topic but after living in India you do not want to bath in the Ganges unless you are high in the mountains at its source. The things I've seen go into the river :eek::eek: and any water ways really around the country
Thanks to money saving tips and debt repayments/becoming debt free I have been able to work and travel for the last 4 years visiting 12 countries and working within 3 of them. Currently living and working in Canada
