RAC response time

So had to call the RAC this evening as my car broke down.... called them at 7,45 and the time they have given me is between 11-11.30. As the car is elsewhere and I've got myself home this involves me taking a night time taxi etc. Is it always this poor - why on earth am i paying them so much money! Apparently they are having a busy night or is this just usual for them? I've been with them a few years but not had to use the breakdown cover. Have used GEM in the past and thy were fantastic. Is it just tonight or are RAC always like this?

I've had cause to call them out three times in 19 years. Never more than 90 minutes on any occasion.

They can't help unexpected levels of demand. You'd be paying a heck of a lot more if they planned to have lots of patrols on standby. Perhaps consider having two organisations cover you - that way you could call both and stand down the one with the longer ETA.

AA have taken similar amounts of time to me. Be a lady with a baby alone if you want quicker service.

Sadly I am just a lady alone.... I could probably work on the baby and may have the baby by the time the RAC arrive?

I paid 70 for GEM and over 200 for RAC - have every level of cover possible with RAC. Just not the one that gets me help. Am currently sitting in central london in my car. Not feeling too great about the whole thing.
