Zenith Collections - only correspondence

I received a letter today from Zenith Collections on behalf og Horizon Parking for an alleged parking offence 18th March 2019. THe car park they are listing is the one I park at every day for work and I always buy a ticket.

I never received a PCN and I have no idea why I have received this letter. It states "It is our intention to collect this debt and persue it to a legal conclusion if necessary"

I have no idea where I go from here, I havent contacted them I just dont know what to do. I cant afford the £127.50 they are demanding but aside from that I dont even owe it!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Matt

Ignore the debt collectors, they are powerless

Read post #4 of the newbies faq sticky thread near the top of the forum

Horizon have 6 years to try a court claim, which they have started doing recently

Your ability to pay or not is irrelevant

Email a SAR to the DPO at Horizon to obtain all the documents and pictures and data about you and your vehicle, attaching a copy of the V5C as proof of ID under the GDPR

Please read the NEWBIES FAQ ... debt collector letters are covered therein.

Debt collectors cannot take you to court - the debt is not theirs to pursue. The ONLY way they could is IF the debt had been assigned - and you'd know that anyway as the original holder of the debt would have had to notify you of the assignment.

No problem with you starting a new thread

I encouraged you to do some tasks to avoid basic repetition of the usual questions, so yes read the dedicated threads, especially the newbies sticky thread, which also has a list of acronyms
  • Ok so, been ignoring all the DRP letters regarding an ECP parking fine back on 23/02/19 for parking longer than the maximum 2hr period allowed by 1hr 1m 7s. The M&S car park gives customers 1hr free parking based on min £5 spend. Recently received a 'Notice of Intention to Commence Legal Proceedings' 25/07/19 from Zenith. Do I continue ignoring? Can't even remember who was driving that day! My surname as registered keeper was spelled incorrectly too as held by the DVLA database and then on DRP letters. I didn't even receive the original parking fine as it was posted to the wrong address by RM and hand delivered 2 weeks later by some neighbour!!! Any help/advice appreciated.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams so consider complaining to your MP.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
