PCN- Parking behind the Adelphi Hotel Liverpool

In December 2018 I parked behind the Adelphi hotel on a side road. I tried to pay for a ticket but the machine had no power and I did not trust the number that was displayed on the sign. I continued with my trip.
I then received a PCN in the post from Parking Eye. I wasn't sure what to do with this and looked up on the forum/internet. The general feel was to ignore it, and so I did. After receiving another reminder letter, it was passed to Equita. They chased for payment on behalf of Parking Eye for an increased amount of money. I believe I sent an email stating the machine was faulty but received no response. This was awhile ago and I am struggling to find the paper trail.
This was also ignored by me as somebody in a similar situation from the Forum did this. I reached out to them and they said they heard nothing on the matter - so I ignored.
Today I received a letter from DRP Debt Recovery Plus requesting £160 or they will be 'recommending to their client they take court action against me'.
Given that I have ignored all previous letters, I am unsure what to do here. Should I ignore this one?
What is the likelihood this can be taken to court?
I have looked through numerous threads on the forum and have not found a situation that either matches mine, or has given a clear cut response to the question - which is why I am posting this thread.

This forum has told people to appeal, not ignore, for the past 6 years that I have been coming here
Ignore the debt collectors, they are powerless
Come back if you receive an LoC or a court claim within 6 years0 -
Parking Eye signs are rubbish, read this

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams so consider complaining to your MP.
Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.
Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
Hi,
I sent a letter to the local MP regarding the matter but no response as of yet.
DRP have sent me another letter titled 'notice of intended court action'. They state that 'we'll pass your file to our client with a recommendation that they take court action against you're.'
I am unsure what to do with this letter. Do I need to do anything or do I wait and see if parking eye take me to court?
Thank you0 -

In terms of the letter - take a copy of it and file it. With the original, you cut it into 4 equal pieces, punch a hole through the corner of each, then hang them in the khazi at the bottom of your garden for subsequent use!
In terms of court, once PE outsource collection to debt collectors (Equita and DRP both being such), they do not proceed to court. Nothing normally holds PE back from issuing proceedings, unless the landowner forbids it, or PE are skating on some thin ice (whatever that may be). Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
