PPI Help

Hi, hoping someone can assist please. I always used to say no to PPI so never bothered claiming (my company at the time would have paid out 6 months sick pay so it didn't seem worth it to me), but keep seeing people who have received a payment despite them not realising they had it.

Now I'm starting to think it might be worth checking it hadn't been added anyway, as I was in a serious amount of debt and have had about 10 credit cards, 3 loans, overdrafts plus mortgages. I know my first loan they told me I had to take a packaged bank account in order to get the better loan rate when I took out my first loan at 18, so it might be that they added it on at least to that one.

So I'm looking at the MSE template letter to send to find out if you had it, but it looks like they have a month to come back to me and I'm going to be away anyhow before the date so would only be helpful if they emailed me rather than wrote a letter.

My query is does this initial contact of sending the letter to ask for the loan or credit agreement count as contact in terms claiming? I'm guessing it doesn't count as not actually making a complaint at this point wondering what I can do. But would be great if someone could assist me please?

Thanks

Forget about template letters and third party websites like this one, go straight to the individual Bank website(s) and simply enquire either via their online webform or by telephone simply whether you had PPI. You'll know very quickly, even immediately, if the Bank has record of PPI for you and you can then progress to complaint if you can show the insurance was mis-sold to you.

Do not under any circumstances write to any financial institution requesting the Agreement. It won't be available for closed accounts in any case and is not at all necessary to make a PPI complaint.
