    You sound offended by my post - sorry if that is the case. I just thought it helpful to provide additional explanation to OP of how the notional income rule works.

    Seems very complicated although I understand why it was brought in.

    I do not know what would happen in the OP's situation where his surplus earnings have been used to pay off a debt - probably one for the decision maker.

    The fact that they have been pent will make no difference to how they are treated for surplus income rules. Because of the £2,500 disregard I cannot see these rules impacting OP for more than two months. The exact impact depends on the maximum UC entitlement.
