PCN 38JL Marlborough Rd Islington

Hi everyone,

I've just received a PCN issued by Islington Council and I'm considering an appeal.

I've done some research and I've noticed that this is a very regular spot for cheeky PCN.
In my case I did not see the sign that indicated that I had to take the left of the road because there was a fire truck parked on the left hand side of the road, on the double yellow line. The truck was very close to the passage (about 6 metres), wrongly parked (was also a keep clear space) and being a very high vehicle did not give me time to see the sign and realise that i had to go on the left. I know it is a fire truck and might be excused for all of that, but I should not pay a fine because the visibility wasn't clear. It was also my first time passing on this road so was completely unaware of this rule.

I think it might be worth appealing, can anyone give me a second opinion on this?

Many thanks :)

Doesn't sound much of a (private) parking charge notice. The 'P' in PCN on this forum refers to 'Parking', not 'Penalty'. It looks very much like a council ticket.

As we major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for council tickets. Register there (but please note that a hotmail address won't work - try using a throwaway gmail account instead if you do have trouble registering) and post a new thread; here's your link:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?act=SF&s=&f=30

Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate) as they need to see all the small print.

PePiPoo has an excellent success record in dealing with council tickets.

You need to take this elsewhere for sound advice.

  • Thanks for your advice. I've tried to register on Pepipoo before coming here, but I'm stuck on the Memorable Question box, as it doesn't accept any of my entries.

  • No, I'm using Gmail.
I've tried to paraphrase questions in different ways, I've used maths questions, etc... it doesn't accept anything.

Try re-registering under a different user name and email address. Apart from that, I've no other suggestions on the PePiPoo registration process.
