Paying state pension into monese or similar

New to this site.I am returning to UK after 15 yes abroad,have no credit history,to open a UK high street bank or address straight away.Can my state pension be paid into a monese account or similar as I will need money on my return.Have contacted pension office,no reply to my question,am very concerned.Does any one know.Many thanks.

The DWP can pay money into any current account that has a sort code and account number, or an IBAN.
You should be able to open at least a Basic account with any UK high street bank. You could also try Starling or Monzo. I believe Starling handles most of the DWP payments. Not that this should make a difference as to where the payments are being made. The advantage over Monese is that all of the above offer FSCS protection.0 -

Hi, I opened a Monese bank account a few months ago. I have my state pension paid in and I have direct debits going out. So far it’s all run like clockwork, no complaints from me at all. Just give Pensions Service your new sort code and account number and you’re ready to roll.0

You don't need a credit history to open a U.K. bank account, it's just the facilities offered at opening will be restricted such as overdrafts and further credit facilities. 1000's of people arrive everyday in the U.K. and open high st bank accounts, although I do bank with and recommend Starling too. Welcome home.0
