  • Hi

    New to this.

Having loads of problems with these blessed people. They have now decided to post this debt that I allagedly owe them (which is over 12 years old) and I have not heard anything about this debt since Spetember 1999 but they have now posted that this debt is current and that I have defaulted on it.

My question is : How do I get them to remove this spurious lie off of Equifax as it has seriously tainted my credit score on that credit reference agency?

    Thanks

Was a CCJ ever issed on this debt? Other wise, Send a statute barred letter and when they (fail to) reply send it to Equifax and demand the record is removed. In the mean-time flag it as being in dispute.

a list of good contacts to whom you can complain formally. start with the Information Commisioner

Here are pipk62's list of websites for the organisations .

These addresses are the ones that I have used to find the information that I required, You may want to research pages other than the ones I have linked to, try clicking on the home page if any of these aren't what you wanted.

Office of Fair Trading, Contact page: http://www.oft.gov.uk/contactus

The Information Commissioners Office, Complaints page: http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints.aspx
(note: I chose to complete and download the .pdf form on Data Protection, which I am also sending to the other offices, with an accompanying letter)

Trading Standards, Central office homepage: http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/
-Please note, you can search by inserting the postcode in the top right hand corner, remember to use the postcode of the DCA rather than your own-

Write to the one in Preston, as they are responsible for licensing this mob.

Consumer Credit Association, enquiries page: http://www.ccauk.org/consenquiries.htm

the Financial Ombudsman Service, Contacts page: http://www.financial-ombudsman.org/contact/index.html

i have had a hard time since 1999, my ex-husband has got away without paying his debt which being the weaker person i have paid/paying through a dmp(greggory pen) not the best company i know. my ex-husband is untracable but i know where he lives but nothing is done, he has never paid anything towards the upkeep of the children and untraceable to csa and i work in a school term-time for the past 8 years. so i am trying my best but this letter is the icing on the cake at the moment. although im with greg pen i want to change to charity run dmp and finding hard to change. we dont have luxurys, christmas is a struggle. i dont drink, smoke, go out or go on holidays or take children on treats. i pay dmp 113 per month 25 is management fee. i am paying this debt but quality of life is not good and i dont sleep well as i constantly worry about it all, and i feel i miss out on the children growing up, because of this. sorry had to get this off my chest i appreciate all your support shown to me.

Hi calamity. I know how hard this is - I was a child in the same sort of set up, except he earned a lot, paid next to nothing (£52 per year, always 2 years in arrears) and then spent a fortune on access weekends.

There are ways and means of extracting a little more from the system. I will find Chevalier's wonderful list of survey and clicks per view sites and post it up. Also there is a page on mystery shopping. You might just get a job buying a pair of shoes or going to a restaurant (you get paid the cost of the purchase and a small fee for your time).

If you kids are over 10 years old, then the YHA offer a whole weeks activity holiday for £25 to children in certain situations.

And do look at freecycle. I think you need a yahoo e-mail account (free) and you need to offer one item before you can "bid".

Also check out www.entitledto.com in case

And get rid of gregory penn as asap.

  • thanks for that, im sure there is light at the end of this very long tunnel, but it seems a long way away. i was a member of freecycle for awhile but i was always too late for items and i have nothing else to give now.

  • from my experience with these clowns they wont reply to your CCA request, they will be in default of your request, dont worry about their standing order mandate, you can always recycle it

Well, the thing about the light at the end of the tunnel is, that as longs as you move towards it it gets nearer and nearer!

    :grouphug:

We all know how it feels when that light is far away. Luckily we are all here to help each other travel closer. There are some really great tips here. Use some of them and you'll be surprised how quickly you pick up speed.

Chevalier has a really good list of links nicked wholesale good way to get vouchers for presents etc. Some people here reckon that they can get £50 per month for clicks, surveys etc in vouchers mainly.

finally get onto the freebies forum here, http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=37
sometimes more useful for pressies but also samples of stuff that make life more interesting.

    Here are some
survey sites, which will increase your income a little. Hope they help.

    Good luck
    chev

    www.lightspeedpanel.com - this is a
survey site, where you get points which turn into vouchers (you choose). May not help with the cash flow, but the vouchers could be saved towards birthday/xmas or given as presents.

    www.ciao.co.uk -
survey site that gives money. A bit fits and starts ie no surveys for a couple of weeks, then three or four the same day.

www.yougov.com - again paid surveys. However takes a while to get to the minimum payout level

    www.mytns.com - again this is a
survey site, but it pays you in points that convert into Nectar points at Sainsbury’s.

www.pigsback.co.uk - this is a points site, ie they give you points for buying things via their site. BUT you also get points for signing up for news letters (some of which are even interesting!), and also for clicking on adverts with pink borders. I have spent NOTHING with them but got a £10 voucher through this week (only been registered since January). There is also a thread in the freebies section, of www.moneysavingexpert.com which gives you all the daily answers to the competitions so you can have a better chance of winning on them.

www.mutualpoints.com - another points for clicks site. You can also buy things via their site and get points too. For a long time, I just clicked the links in the emails they send you, and that gets you 5 points. At 3000 points you get £20 I think. You can do searches via their site and that gets you points too.

www.quidco.com - this is a cash back site, so very good, for checking if any potential new insurers (ie if you have checked your contents insurance say and found a new provider), are offering cash back. Eg Lloyds was offering £120 cashback on new policies at one point (the offers do change). You can also get small amounts of cash again for doing searches via their site. You can earn 52p a day by doing this. Every little helps.

www.greasypalm.co.uk - another cash back site, where you can do searches and get small amounts of money. But it all adds up. I think you can get about 50p a day on there for nothing. Minimum payout is £20 I think, but you can sign up to
survey sites via there, and get extra money that way for nothing.

And check mystery shopping, here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/....html?t=454437 - but this does count as income for tax and benefit purposes

Here is the breaks4kids link on the YHA site, http://www.yha.org.uk/about-yha/Breaks4Kids/index.aspx

It says 50% but for kids whose families are on some benefits, it is only £25 according to my YHA newsletter.

The deal is for those on organised breaks, though.
