Barclays 0% - Poor credit limit?

  • Barclaycard are trying to be a more responsible lender but they are being pathetic lately. I put a significant amount of traffic through mine every month, usually pay in full every month but failing that always above the minimum.

I have never missed a payment and have cash advanced probably twice the whole time i've had the card. My credit file is squeeky clean.

Last month they wrote to say they were slashing £550 off my credit limit of £1900 and withdrawing my cash advance ability.

They appear to be penalising existing customers and also giving poor service to new customers. They have gone from what probably once was the best card company to the worst.

My wife and I got a BT on Barclaycard a few years ago on a permanently low rate for the life of the transfer, some months we paid the minimum and other months when loads of overtime at work we paid plenty extra, once we got a late charge, was before we used internet banking and cheque was lost in post!!
We are down to less than £50(pay off this month) to pay and we are just going to arrange a new BT, they also increased our limit from £1050 to £1850 over a year ago, my wife phoned today to arrange the BT but she couldn't do it because we didn't have our cards, we destroyed them and the pin numbers the moment they arrived and have never used the BC for anything other than the BT's.
Thanks to all the competition posters.

    Kilocharlie,
I'd also say depending on what you're annual salary etc and whatever you may have already on your credit file may have determined what makes them set you're limit.

Check RBS they are set to wipe off £1.25bn for bad debts linked to the States!!
Thanks to all the competition posters.

No doubt you had attitude when you phoned Barclaycard and got everthing you deserved. Will people like you never learn.

    You're a right charmer, aren't you? :rotfl:

The only person suffering is yourself. You have a wasted credit search and said good bye to virtually free money. Oh well if it makes you feel better.

Principles are only priciples when they cost money.
