Problem with EON energy FIT payments

As EON had never contacted us regarding this visit, or never informed us that no payment would be made until after this check. Are they entitled to withhold payment until after this visit?

Probably. It's an Ofgem requirement that solar installs are checked every two years to ensure that people aren't just making up their generation meter readings.
If the check hasn't been made, then you are no longer eligible for FIT payments.
See https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/system/files/docs/2019/03/guidance_for_suppliers_v11.pdf section 7.87 onwards. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

Obviously it doesn't seem to worry nPower, as they've been paying my FIT for the past 8 years and have never sent a meter reader round once.0 -

I emailed fitenquiries@eonenergy.com but received no reply. On phoning EON today I was told that a system check/visit was required. The earliest available was the 27/8/19 and was told that no payment would be made until after this visit. The person on the phone couldn't tell me why no visit had been arranged or why they hadn't replied to my email

Good morning paul bloomfield and welcome to the forum.
Sorry for the delay in replying.
It's similar to reading and checking normal gas and electricity meters, we need to visit around once every two years.
However, as we've mentioned the FIT payment will be held back just until the visit has gone ahead.
It might be worth just having another word with the FIT guys here, so we can check why a letter/email wasn't sent out.
Thank you.

Hi, I’ve been with E.On for F.I.T. payments for at least 6 years and never once have the forwarded my payment quicker than a month. As regards requiring a F.I.T. meter check every 2 years, beware their meter reading man comes out takes a reading and after another delay in responding you end up in limbo land again. After numerous phone calls I discover that the meter reading taken by their representative differs from what was expected, I then submitted a photo of my meter reading taken after the representative had called again and behold the operative has misread the meter. This process was repeated 2 years later and the exact same excuse was used, so most definitely take a photo of your meter at the same time the representative is taking their reading.
I have also encountered a warren of departments within E.On dealing with F.I.T. payments, it’s like layers on an onion, getting passed from one department to the next, in my my opinion it is just a maze of incredibly deceptive delaying tactics.
I am still with E.On as I am trying to build a portfolio of E.On dealing withholding F.I.T. payments with the view to reporting this to OfGen and asking that E.On right to handle F.I.T. matters be revoked and compensation should be given to any payments which are delayed longer than 3 weeks. My F.I.T. payments may be small, about £2,000 a year but if the interest that accrued by withholding my payments is multiplied across the board then it could be quiet considerable.
I appreciate this is all talk and the fact that I still haven’t done this shows how slow I work but
I would appreciate any feedback or suggestions if I am being realistic in my approach and to this end it would be good to hear how fast or slow other F.I.T. providers are.

You have bumped a year old thread, that doesn't suggest that this is a particularly hot topic...If you are seeking feedback on other providers you'd be better off starting your own thread.1

There is a 140 page thread about FIT payment delays.

... and that is a better place to seek others with the same problem as well, rather than this forum...
