SIM card to use in the USA

I'll be travelling in the US for 18 days and need data for routing and WhatsApp calls.
Would this be the best option? I've checked the Walmart website and they seem to be around the same price.

Assuming you have a unlocked phone here, just get A uk sim from 3 pay as you go. Get £10 credit, convert to an add on and you can use in in the US. just like at home.Save £12k in 2019 #360

Agree with above. Most cost effective way.0

Could you explain "convert to an add on" ?
Thank you.
An "add on" is the term used by Three to describe the process of converting your account credit to enable it to be used for data, unlimited text messages and unlimited calls.
All it involves is adding the credit to your account either with a card or a voucher from a shop, going online to your account then clicking on the "get an add on" tab and following a couple of instructions.
It very easy to do and very cost effective in the USA.0 -
Is it a free SIM then add £10 credit for data roaming rather than the £10 plan?

Yes, get the free SIM, register your account online and add credit then convert that credit to an add on shortly before you depart for your holiday.0

Last time I added credit and converted to an add on, I had a text from 3 saying that you can now purchase add ons directly.0

I’m with Three and it works seamlessly. The only thing that I would mention is that calls to the US will be charged*, it’s only calls home and data that are included. One way around this would be to use Skype (or similar) to call using data.
*from memory. I’m happy to be corrected.
Annoyingly Three added Chile to their destinations half way through my holiday there 18 months ago but being unaware of this I spent a lot of time and a fair bit of money on a local sim. Lots of red tape in that country!I hate verisimilitude.0
