Halifax PPI?

Options
My first mortgage was with the Halifax in 1989. I still have most of my paperwork but not sure whether I had PPI or not. I sent them a request form through Resolver a couple of weeks ago. A few days later I got a text from them saying they will send me SMS updates. Now today I have received a letter in the post saying they are looking into my 'complaint' and will get back to me by the 23rd Sep. They say that as I have 'complained' before the deadline I won't be affected by time running out. Can I trust them? Is this a fob off? I'm asking because I haven't actually submitted a complaint - only a request for info and this does not show among my other cases on Resolver.

    of course you can.
    Is this a fob off?

In what way could that ever be conceived as a fob off?

Resolver is a method to submit complaints. Once submitted, the firm is free to respond wtihin the rules. The rules do not cover resolver.
  • I ask because Resolver clearly states that if you think you had PPI you need to fill in the complaint form. I haven't done this because I only submitted a 'PPI Checker' form. There is however a phone number at the top of the letter so I will give them a call on Monday. Thank you for your answer.

Resolver is just a (free) third party E-mail template.

Understand that Resolver has no authority or influence.

This late in the day, I wouldn't be using Resolver at all to be honest...
