PPI complaint rejected due to changed name - is this normal?

Options
I raised a complaint with Barclaycard on the 31st July. They have written back to me (dated 7th August) saying that my name doesn't match the name on their records and unless I provide details to change the name on my account they will reject my complaint.

Part of that is fair enough - the account is still in my maiden name.

The bit that confuses me is that they say that unless I update my details they will reject and close my complain on 29th July. That is 2 days before I raised the complaint. Does that mean they have already rejected it and I need to send a new one? Why would they reject it at a date before I raised it?

They have not rejected your complaint. They haven't looked at your complaint yet and are saying they will close it if you do not respond.
