I think as long as the payee is a US company or account there wouldn't be an issue. I will look into the TransferWise Borderless account - presumably as far as they are concerned they would be paying the money to an account in the US right? Once it is in my US transferwise account, how would I get the money into GBP / my UK account?
I don't have 1 myself but you may be able to just transfer it to another account.0 -

Yes, a domestic transfer to US account. You can then send it to your UK account for a minimal fee, converting to GBP at the interbank rate. Or spend it globally with the TransferWise card.
