    Yes, those are massive bills; abnormally large. We have a five bedroom house with minimal insulation, we are home all day, and our bills are half yours.

    Are you paying estimated bills, or bills based on actual meter readings.
    How long have your bills been like this?
    Do you have a gas boiler? If not, how is your house heated?
    What tariff are you on and with which supplier?

    Have a look at this link, follow the steps and provide an update here:

    The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

    Look back on your bills and find ones with the letter A (that means ACTUAL ) against the meter reading - now read it today and give us the readings. Ignore the readings with E (ESTIMATED)

    When did you last give readings to your supplier ?
    Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

    You need to deal in hard facts, not emotions. Don't go on a wild goose chase thinking that the meters are faulty, that should be a last resort and only if there is overwhelming hard evidence.

    The following are far more likely:-

    * Estimated readings are inappropriate
    * Meters have been misread by user
    * You're paying off arrears because the direct debit estimates were set too low
    * You're on a deemed tariff
    * You're paying for usage by the previous occupant because you didn't give an opening meter reading
    * Readings relate to wrong meter(s)
    * Meters serve additional premises

    Start by taking today's meter readings. Prove the meters are yours, e.g. by
    (1) checking that the readings can be seen increasing if you turn absolutely everything on at the same time, and then stay unchanged if you switch absolutely everything off for a few hours at a busy time; and
    (2) switching off at the meters and checking that your supplies go off.
    Once you've established that the setup is correct, check that the serial numbers on the meters are the same as shown on the bills.

    Work out your annual consumption based on actual meter readings, preferably by the official meter reader (or smart meter). Then come back to the forum and we'll be able to help !

    Well OP it seems that you are so concerned about your massive bills you can't be bothered to respond to the advice you've been given.
    Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
