No need to pay for a MOT now - wait till its due.

    A new MOT doesn't mean it's roadworthy!

    No need to say that!

Important (for you) is that nowhere does it say at your option/discretion/choice!

Sorry don’t quite understand this. No need to say what?

The booklet does not state whether me or the insurer will choose the options listed.

    Thanks

No need to say that its at their option.

But nowhwere does it say you have the option on how it's resolved. (Apart from giving you the choice of repairer - though elsewhere you will see an extra excess is imposed if you choose the repairer)

I thought that was the precise reason for a MOT? It’s to prove road worthiness at the time of MOT but does not mean it will remain road worthy over 12 months.

Exactly - road worthy only at the time of the test

    Doesn't prove roadworthy subsequently though!

So having multiple MOT tests throughout the year is a waste of money!

But surely if I am not allowed drive the at right now, and if the reason why a cash settlement is being rejected is because they think the damage has made the car unroadworthy, then by Doing a MOT now (after the accident) will prove that it is roadworthy and therefore will allow me to continue to drive the car whilst the complaint progresses?

Just trying to save you money (its a money saving website)!

If you get the steering fixed you will have a garage bill to show them!

Are you sure they will give you cash to repair it yourself if you make it roadworthy?

Plenty of faults can still pass an MOT.

Mate took a car in where he could not get reverse, he found an MOT station where they drive straight through and didnt need to use reverse.

Possible it could pass the MOT with a failed powersteering system also, just need to find somewhere with nice shiny floors on a rainy day.

I took a car in for an MOT for a work colleague and they failed to spot a broken spring. So its entirely possible for a car to pass yet have issues. Worse on cars that cover everything in a plastic/metal shield.
